The Warth-Schröcken ski area is now the largest ski area in Austria with the connection to Lech-Zürs, as well as further to St. Anton! However, the manageability of the Warth-Schröcken area is particularly suitable for families. With the high quality slopes for all levels of ability, you can quickly reach the meeting points. The ski bus takes you in 5 minutes from Haus Rothorn to the first entry point to the ski area - the Salober. There at the valley station is the children's ski school with Pauli's Ski Arena, as well as the S1 Ski Lounge with a wonderful sun terrace.

PAULI'S SKI ARENA

The Pauli Ski Arena is located directly at the Salober valley station, in a sunny location. The perfect practice and adventure area for children. With the experts of the new Salober-Schröcken Ski School, children learn to ski with great pleasure. Pauli's Ski Arena is divided into 2 areas:

  1. The Körb-Tellerlift practice lifts, Pauli's Seil-Lift and the Kuchl chairlift are accessible to everyone with a valid ski pass. In recent years there has been a lot of investment in safety on the children's slopes. The practice slopes for the little skiers are now appropriately separated from the slopes of the big lifts.
  2. Pauli's Adventure Land - the 8000m² children's practice area of the Schröcken-Salober Ski School. With 3 conveyor belts, ski carousel with snow tubes and Salober Kids Clubhouse with warming room for all ski school children. The highlight for the kids is the skidoo rafting - great fun!

FAMILY ADVENTURE OFFERS

Summer is full of adventures and nature experiences for the whole family:

  • The adventure park Schröcken - a high ropes course with 42 rope courses, 3 Flying Fox courses as well as climbing possibilities in 3-15m height was built above the Bregenzerache, on the rock as well as in the forest. The courses are suitable for children from 6 years and are therefore the perfect adventure for the whole family. The new Mega Swing as well as the course "Himmelreis" demands a bit more courage and overcoming!
  • Flying Fox Park Safari - it goes in 20-90 meters height over wild gorges, over waterfalls and trees from Nesslegg (only 2 minutes away from Haus Rothorn) to Schröcken with 6 Flying Fox tracks. Whether headfirst, screaming or laughing - in any case, you'll go over the gorge hanging from the rope, charged with adrenaline. An unforgettable experience for the whole family with children from 6 years.
  • Canyoning tours for children and families. It's only a few minutes' walk from Haus Rothorn to outdoor expert Jürgen Strolz HOLZSCHOPF.COM. Equipped with wetsuit, helmet and harness, after dry training with tips and tricks on how to behave properly in the water, it's off into the gorge of the Seebach in Nesselgg. Abseiling, climbing, swimming, sliding, jumping and diving into the washed out gullies with the fresh mountain water. Pure adrenaline and an absolutely cool adventure!

FAMILY HIKES

In addition to a large selection of challenging hiking tours, there are also perfect family hikes in Warth-Schröcken.
Here are a few tips:

  • The natural jewel Körbersee is only 40 minutes away from Haus Rothorn. There you can stop off at the mountain inn and take a canoe trip on the lake. From there the hike can be continued in several directions - to the Hochtannbergpass (30 min), to Lech (approx. 2 h) or to Schröcken/Heimboden (approx. 1 h).
  • The panoramic hike from Nesslegg along the Sonnenberger Höhenweg leads to the districts of Wald - Schwand - Oberboden in approx. 50 minutes. TIP: in just 15 minutes you can get from here to the Schröcken Adventure Park - the perfect family adventure!
  • Take the hiking bus to Warth and enjoy a breezy ascent with the Steffisalp Express (use of the buses and trains is included in the Bregenzerwald Card). During the lift ride you can see numerous marmots enjoying the summer sun in front of their burrow. From the mountain station to the Spitzen See and the Speichersee and further to the Hochalp-Hütte (approx. 40 min). The small children's playground and the sun terrace invite you to take a break. Continue over the Saloberkopf with a magnificent view of the entire mountain panorama to the Hochtannbergpass. Total walking time approx. 1.5 h
  • It's a bit more challenging from the Hochtannbergpass to the Widdersteinhütte - either on the direct and somewhat steeper trail in about 50 min or via the Hochalppass and lake to the hut in about 1.5 hrs.
  • For the very brave we recommend a detour to the Höferspitze with starting point Hochtannbergpass - walking time approx. 1.5 h. An exciting ridge hike to the summit at 2,130 metres altitude. The way back is either the same way or a direct descent to Nesslegg.

CHILDREN WATCH OUT!

You can collect stamps with the Murmele hiking pass, which you can get free of charge at Haus Rothorn. If all the fields are filled in, you'll get a great gift!

The adventure pool in Steeg with indoor pool, wellness department, children's area, massages and restaurant.

Hike to the goat alp Mellau
On the Ziegenalpe Buchen in Mellau there are about 150 goats, 20 cows and some alpine pigs. With a hearty alpine snack and a glass of milk you will also be provided for your physical well-being. Total walking time about 2 hours

Didi's children experience - Diedamskopf
At the mountain station of the Diedamskopf cable car in Schoppernau. The ascent is free with the Bregenzewald Card. For children from 3-8 years, parent-child area for children up to 3 years. Free use for all children.

Wälderbähnle
A nostalgic train that runs between the stations Bezau and Schwarzenberg. The journey there and back takes about 1 hour.

Naturnah Metzler in Egg
The theme of the farm and everything that goes with it can be EXPERIENCED here. From the impressive cow barn and the turbulent goat madhouse with visitor gallery to the small animal cuddle zone, the herb garden, the high-tech cooling and heating technology to the cheese production, the whey cosmetics processing and the fine farm shop, there is nothing to hide here.
